Meet Terry Wheeler JD, CFP®

Tuition Tax Secrets is a passion project for its founder, Terry Wheeler, J.D., CFP®. He is a tax and wealth planning attorney, a former adjunct professor at U.C. Davis for CFP candidates, and a father of 5 children, including triplets. As a high-income earner, he faced the challenge of sending his five children to college while receiving zero needs-based aid.

He has always been passionate about education and is both a consummate student and teacher. As a proud father, he had to find a way to send his five children to college (not to mention advanced degrees). But as a tax attorney and wealth planning specialist, he knew there had to be a better way.

After countless hours of research and consulting other experts in the tax and education arenas, he put together a strategy for his family that he estimates may save him upwards of $300,000 in education costs. With two college-age children and triplets rapidly approaching that stage, these strategies have become a lifesaver for him and his family. Now he shares his strategies with other families facing their own version of college funding challenges. Consultants recommended base pricing for the course to be significantly higher than what is being offered, but Terry wanted the system to be available to help as many families as possible.
